Snoke was a humanoid person that tried to control Kylo Ren. Ben was strong, however, and eventually killed him. We all thought he was going to be some cool antagonist but it ended up all being a waste, only to be replaced by the tedious fact that he was a genetic creation of Sheev Palpatine. Interesting.
